CareLink and the CareLink Resource Line are provided by Moses Cone Health System as a service to physicians in order to facilitate the immediate and efficient transport of patients to a Moses Cone Health System hospital for advanced cardiac, neurosurgical and critical care needs.

CareLink is the mobile critical care transport service operated by the Moses Cone Health System. Providing state-of-the-art medical technology to care for the most critical patient, from neonate to adult, the transport team is available 24 hours per day, every day.
CareLink started in 1994 with one ambulance. System administrators and local physicians believed there was a need to provide a more efficient way to transport sick and critically ill patients from smaller hospitals in the area for procedures and inpatient care. Since that first month when CareLink transported 30 patients, there has been rapid growth in the number of ambulances and call volume.
CareLink now has a fleet of six trucks, five that are in use daily, each capable of providing critical care. Of those five units, one is based at Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville and another at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro. The remaining units are based in a facility located near The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
CareLink serves a radius of 150 miles from each of the bases but will transport patients further distances based on customer needs and requests. CareLink has sent units to South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Today, CareLink provides almost 7,000 transports a year. Calls for consultation and transport are handled through our dispatch center 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Calls are triaged based on patient acuity by our dispatcher and charge nurse. Although the units work in their primary areas to provide seamless coverage to customers, CareLink can dispatch a truck at any location at any time.
Although CareLink's primary responsibility is the transport of patients into the Moses Cone Health System, CareLink routinely provides transport of patients to other facilities.

The CareLink Resource Line provides a single source of information service for our Secondary Market Physicians. Both our toll-free number and our e-mail are staffed 24 hours every day by communication specialists to serve you. CareLink Resource Line is a single access point for all referring physician interactions with the Moses Cone Health System. These services include referring a patient and requesting a consult to seeking patient status information and diagnostic results.
