Annie Penn Hospital to show off new Emergency Department

The public is invited to an open house, marking the completion of the Annie Penn Hospital Emergency Department expansion.

'In the healthcare business, people call the emergency department the hospital's front door,' says Susan Fitzgibbon Shumaker, President, Annie Penn Hospital. 'I am certain our community will be very proud of the new front door to Annie Penn Hospital.'

The emergency department expansion added 3,000 square feet and renovated 13,000 square feet. The expansion added a second ambulance bay and increased the number of treatment rooms from 13 to 24.

A new feature is a five-bed area dedicated to treating sore throats, flu and other minor cases. Doctors and physician assistants are from Guilford Emergency Physicians, PA, the same group that staffs the emergency departments of The Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital and Wesley Long Community Hospital.

The open house is on Wednesday, Sept. 10, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Emergency Department.

Food, music, tours, blood pressure checks and a Moses Cone Health System CareLink mobile critical care unit will be featured.
