High School Diploma or equivalent.
Medical business office experience required, with a minimum of 5 years experience related to healthcare customer service.

BASIC PURPOSE:
This position is accountable to perform a variety of tasks in order to facilitate effective and continuous departmental operations in the customer service area.
MAJOR WORK ACTIVITIES:
1. Train new staff in Customer Service routine, issues, policies and procedures.
2. Serve as the “go to” resource in Customer Service area in regards to Patient Accounting issues as a whole as well as daily questions related to customer service functions. 3. Perform as the “person in charge” in the supervisor’s absence. 4. Maintain current working knowledge of customer service procedures to be able to fill in during vacancies or absences of other staff members.
5. Take responsibility for special projects.
6. Work with staff on difficult accounts and resolves billing issues.
7. Assist supervisor with interviews and selection of new employees in the Customer Service area.

8. Maintain weekly productivity report in supervisor’s absence.
9. Respond to patient emails received via our website.
10. Maintain acceptable level of quality and production standards as determined by supervisor review and audit of assigned accounts.
11. Serve as the liaison between Customer Service area and other departments with the Health System.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. 2. Proficient 10 key calculator skills. 3. Computer knowledge and keyboarding skills. 4. Ability to work independently. 5. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. 6. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, etc.
