Pastoral Care Program for Cancer Survivors

Because cancer is a disease that affects not only the body but also the mind and spirit, the Department of Pastoral Care provides a variety of services through the Regional Cancer Center to individuals with cancer and their families. The programs, workshops and retreats are designed to help individuals use their spiritual resources as they face the challenges of living with cancer.

There are no fees charged for any of the programs. The programs include support groups, workshops and retreats.

One of our staff chaplains, Terry Moore-Painter, is available to meet with cancer patients and caregivers on an individual limited basis. Spiritual direction focuses on assisting people in become who they are in the midst of their particular faith and their particular life circumstances. For many people with cancer, spiritual exploration becomes central. Spiritual direction provides a way in which people can safely explore spiritual issues with another individual.
